The Maryland AGC Safety Awards Program offers Maryland AGC members in good standing an opportunity to evaluate their safety record. The Maryland AGC safety program compares a member’s safety record with other Maryland AGC members and compares the record according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) reports on workplace injuries and illnesses, as classified using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code. Additionally, the safety awards program provides a great opportunity for contractor members with excellent safety records to compete for nationally recognized awards.
How to enter: Members in good standing must provide a copy of their OSHA 300A from November 1,2009 through October 31,2010 to the Maryland AGC by December 1, 2010. In addition, a member must participate this year to be eligible for an award next year, with an exception for new members. A fatality will disqualify you for an award.
Award Categories: The program has four award categories, 25% below the national incident rate average for their NAICS code; no lost-time incidents; 25% Improvement Award and a First Time Participation Certificate (Example: The average for all construction (NAICS 23) in 2008 = 4.7.)
